Guests

Our guests are women curious about Islam and would like to learn more.

We provide friendship and information, answering their questions and directing them to reliable resources.

Amanah Members

The “Amanah” Members of the group are new Muslim sisters who have recently accepted Islam. Their name reflects our responsibility to them. The Shura and the Alumni Members look after and guide “Amanah” Members gently with friendship, patience, and kindness. “Amanah” Sisters have adopted the most beautiful way of life by the grace and blessing of Allah (God, Glorious and Exalted is He), but they will face challenges in the transition phase from one way of life to another. Alumni members intend to help to ease this transition process for the “Amanah” Members.

They are the backbone of the Amanah Sisters.

Shura Members

The Amanah Sisters Shura Council is the administrative council of the group. Composed of eleven sisters coming from different backgrounds and speaking a variety of languages, they each bring a broad range of life experiences and knowledge to the group. The council moderates and ensures a healthy welcoming environment for all sisters while completing the necessary administrative duties for the Amanah Sisters.

What Does Amanah Mean?

Amanah ( أمانة) is an Arabic word that means "trust" as well as "free will." Allah (God) entrusted mankind with many trusts. One of the trusts given to Muslims is to take care of their community. Below is a direct quote from the Holy Qur'an and an approximate English interpretation.

Indeed, we offered the "Amanah" (Trust / Free Will) to the heavens and the earth and the mountains,
and they declined to bear it and feared it; but man [undertook to] bear it... Qurah 33:72

Both terms used in the section above “free will” and “trust” are embedded in the meaning of the name and purpose of Amanah Sisters. The new Muslim sisters have used their free will to become Muslim, and they are now a trust given to the community of Muslims by Allah (God). The Amanah Sisters are based on just that, taking care of each other for the sake of Allah (God).

Dua (Prayer) for the Amanah Sisters

We ask Allah (God, Glorious and Exalted is He) to continue to grant us beneficial knowledge, to guide us and forgive our sins, to make the Holy Quran a light for our souls and healing for our hearts, and to shade us with His shade on the day when there will be no shade but His.
